Release Notes

Here’s everything you need to know about the latest features and improvements in Shira. If something is missing, you can suggest new features or improvements here.

Shira 2.4​

🌟 New feature: full Right-to-Left support!​

  • All of Shira is now available in true right-to-left interfaces!
  • Up until now, right-to-left languages were displayed in a left-to-right interface. Now, all interfaces and components display in the expected right-to-left direction.
  • Shira is currently partially translated into Arabic. If you'd like to contribute to completing the Arabic translation or translate Shira in other right-to-left languages, get in touch here.

🌟 Import and export!​

  • You can now import and export questions and quizzes.
  • Exporting questions and quizzes downloads them as files that can then be reimported into the same Space or a different one.
  • Exporting can be a good way of backing up your work, but also to share questions or quizzes with others without having to publish to the template library.

🌟 Disable Results!​

  • Results can now be disabled in Space settings.
  • Disabling Results means that analytics about how learners are doing on quizzes is no longer collected and saved.
  • Disabling Results can be useful for those who want to collect the absolute minimal amount of data about their learners.

Improvements​

  • Tags and language tags in the template library can now be translated, so they won't appear in English to those using Shira in a different language.
  • The list of languages in Settings > Language includes each language in the user's current interface language (eg. if Shira is currently set in Spanish, then French in the language dropdown will show up as: Francés, Français)
  • The Settings screen now shows the current version of Shira the user is on.

Fixes​

  • The "learn more" link in the template submission screen leads to a more helpful page in the documentation.
  • The "request a missing language" link in the template submission screen leads directly to the contact page.

🌟 New feature: community submission to the template library!​

  • The template library introduced in v2.1 is now collaborative!
  • Any user with a Space can now submit a quiz question or a full quiz as a template, so other users can use them in their own space.
  • To submit a template, just head to the question or quiz you want to submit and click the "submit as template" button. You will then be asked to fill in some information to make it easy for others to find the template and understand what it offers.
  • Each template submission is reviewed by the Shira team and either approved or rejected. If rejected, a short message will highlight the reason for the rejection.
  • Each template shows the "author" who created it, and users can filter the library of templates by authors to find templates created by people or organization they work with or trust.

Improvements​

  • When you create a new quiz or duplicate an existing quiz, you are now automatically redirected into the newly create quiz so you can start working on it immediately.
  • We updated the Gmail app UI to reflect recent changes in the real-life Gmail app.

Fixes​

  • We fixed the excessive spacing between each quiz card in the Shira dashboard
  • We got rid of a bug that highlighted an explanation when double clicking on the explanation above.
  • An explanation over email attachments now highlight the entire attachment rather than only the name.
  • The background on the phone mockup for SMS questions has the same color as the question's background.

🌟 New feature: assessment mode!​

  • A new setting lets you set your quizzes to "learning mode" or "assessment mode":
    • In learning mode, learners receive immediate feedback and explanations after each answer to help them improve their phishing detection skills. This is the mode you're already used to.
    • In assessment mode, learners test their phishing detection skills without feedback or explanations to measure their actual performance level.
  • Because assessment mode remove any possibility of learning from one question to the next, it will increase the accuracy of quizzes used to measure learners' level.

Improvements​

Templates:

  • We renamed the library to "templates" to make it clearer that this is where quiz and questions templates can be found.

Fixes​

  • We fixed an issue in Messenger questions whereby a long text message would not be entirely covered by the grey text bubble.

Shira 2.1​

🌟 New feature: quiz templates!​

  • The Template library now includes not just quiz questions, but full quizzes ready to be imported into your space. This means you no longer have to build a quiz from scratch, you can start training your team within minutes.
  • Filter and search the library by keyword, language, apps, and more.
  • Using a template from the library creates a copy of the template into your space. After you use a template, the original template and the quiz in your space are separate and independent from each other, and you can edit the quiz in your space to customize it to your needs.

🌟 New feature: add more admins to your space!​

Up until now, a team had to use a shared account to collaborate in a space. Now, spaces support multiple admins, each with their own account and credentials. It's not yet possible to add additional admins yourself, but just reach out and we'll help.

Multi-admins is only available to users on the Enterprise plan.

🌟 New feature: multilingual spaces!​

Spaces are now multilingual! The interface of the entire Space is available in Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese (simplified), and Arabic (Arabic is unfortunately not yet available in a right-to-left interface, but we'll be working on that soon).

Just head to Settings to select your preferred language.

Improvements​

Explanations:

  • When creating a question, adding an explanation attached to text in the email or message body now auto-focuses on the explanation so you can start typing the explanation right away.
  • You can now add line breaks inside explanations, making long explanations a lot more readable.

Privacy:

  • Learners can now see, on the instruction screen before taking a quiz, exactly what data we collect as they take the quiz.

Usability:

  • Every text field in Shira now has a visual indicator to inform the user of the field's character limit.
  • The list of questions inside a quiz was revamped to provide more information about each question, including the type (phishing or legitimate) and the app used.

Fixes​

  • When entering the wrong email address or password on the login screen, we replaced the browser's default error modal with a more informative error directly in the Shira UI.
  • We fixed the spelling of WhatsApp throughout the app (it was Whatsapp).
  • When creating a space, we removed the login button from the confirmation space to reduce confusion.
  • When deleting a quiz, in the warning modal, we now only show the note "This quizz's Results will also be deleted" when there actually are Results in the Quiz (when at least one learner has taken the quiz).
  • Inside quiz questions, we fixed the color of links, which showed up as black instead of blue when there was an explanation attached to it.
  • We renamed the question editing screens from "Create a new question" to "Edit question".

  • User can now reset their password from the login page.
  • User can import learners in bulk by uploading a CSV, instead of having to create large number of learners one by one
  • New Results metrics:
    • Completion rate: the percentage of learners who have submitted the quiz out of all the learners assigned this quiz. Completion rate is only available for private quizzes.
    • Results by question: the average score received by all learners on each specific question in the quiz.
    • Results by learner: the list of registered learners who completed the quiz and their score on the quiz. Results by learner are only available for private quizzes.

Shira 2.0-beta5​

This releases introduces private quizzes--our most requested feature!

  • Private quizzes: quizzes that can only be taken by learners who are registered in your space.
  • Registered learners: learners who have been invited by an admin to join your space and whose results are tied to their account, allowing you to see how each is doing on your quizzes.

Shira 2.0-beta4​

With this release, we are getting closer to the full feature set that will be included in Shira 2.0. You can already find the following features:

  • Organizational spaces: a place for you to manage quizzes and see results.
  • Customizable quizzes: create as many quizzes as you wish.
  • Customizable quiz questions: create quiz questions tailored to your team's needs and capacity.
  • Explanations: display short texts, directly inside quiz questions, to point learners to specific elements in the question content that suggest that it may be a phishing attack or that it may be legitimate.
  • Six apps to display your questions and make them look as close as possible to what your learners will experience in real life: Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook Messenger, and Dating App.
  • Results: see how well your learners did on your quizzes.
